a turkish delight!

easily one of my favorite bands of all time, and this is one of the songs that got me hooked back in the 10th grade, so why is it that i've never seen the video for it until tonight?

They Might Be Giants - Istanbul (Not Constantinople)

and then furthermore, why didn't I know that it wasn't even their song!!

Illusions have been shattered tonight people, I need to go to bed and sleep on all of this new information....

i'm here

when i first heard that one of my favorite directors spike jonze was making a short film based on shel silverstein's the giving tree, a book that I had grown up on, needless to say I was super excited.  after viewing the finished product, i was blown away.  it's a beautiful love story told in a very unconventional fashion. Plus it's got an amazing soundtrack to boot!

music video goodness...

i can't decide which one of these is better, both excellent for completely different reasons.

first we've diplo versus deerhunter versus the streets of moscow.

and then we've got the books taking on arnie's army...

both tracks are fantastic, and it's nice to see someone getting creative on the video end of things, kicking things up a notch in what's become a pretty stale medium.
